I found this free long distance call service that actually works. Even tested it with some long distance pizza calls. No need to use VOIP, prepaid phone cards, or calling through an Internet service. You just pick up your phone, dial in their number, listen to about 5 seconds of ads and then you enter in your destination number.
It doesn’t cover every single city in Canada, but you can call from quite a few of them including: Toronto, Victoria, Calgary, Guelph, Halifax, Kingston, Niagara Falls, Oshawa, Ottawa, Peterborough, St Catharines and Windsor.
From those access points, you can then call out to hundreds of cities across Canada for free. Check out the full list at ZeroCents.

Very interesting. However, with cell phones, long distance calling is becoming less and less of an issue, eh?

Long distance charges would still apply to a cell phone, though you can always hook an Iphone up to a Voip App to get around it. Especially if you have 3G unlimited data transfer. Haven’t tried Voip on the iphone yet though, I’m more of a net person than a phone person.
